You can help Reach Out and Read Florida programs by educating the Florida
Congressional delegation about the importance of Reach Out and Read to
your community and the impact it is having on children's literacy and school
readiness.
1) Write an email to your Congressional representative and the U.S.
Senators. Go to http://www.reachoutandread.org/supporters/advocate/takeaction.aspx
2) Invite your Congressional representative to visit your ROR site
and be a guest reader. Your legislators are in their hometowns, districts,
and states many times throughout the year. One of the best ways to
gain
the support of policymakers is to get them out of their offices and
into your program. By hosting a visit, you can show your legislators
first-hand
why the program is so vital to your community and the incredible
impact ROR is making locally by reaching so many children and families
in
need. For assistance, contact rorflorida@yahoo.com
3) Keep your local legislators informed about Reach Out and
Read in Florida. Go to www.flsenate.gov and www.myfloridahouse.gov and
click
on find your
senator or representative to email them.
